On 26 December 2023, Kyrgyzstan unveiled its new flag, which keeps the yellow tunduk (the top of a yurt) inside a yellow sun with forty beams. The tunduk now has four intersecting lines and the sun’s beams are now straightened to avoid looking like a sunflower.

Officially known as the Kyrgyz Republic, this country is located in Central Asia and bordered by Kazakhstan and China. The official languages are Kyrgyz and Russian. The capital and largest city is Bishkek. The flag design consists of a red field with a Tunduk on a yellow sun with forty rays which represent the followers of the national hero, Manas the Noble.

The national anthem of Kyrgyzstan is “Kyrgyz Respublikasynyn Mamlekettik Gimni” (National Anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic).
