
23 August to 30 August marks Paryushana, an important holy event with prayers, fasting and meditation for the ancient Indian Jainism religion.
The Indian flag was adopted in July 1947. The design consists of a horizontal triband of saffron (orange), white, and dark green; the middle white band of the flag features a blue wheel with 24 spokes known as Dharma Chakra or “Wheel of Law”.
