July 23rd is Revolution Day in Egypt, an annual public holiday which marks the anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 which brought the end to the monarchy and the establishment of a republic.

The flag of Egypt was adopted in February 1965. The design consists three equal horizontal red, white and black bands. The center of the flag features a golden representation of the eagle of Saladin, Egypt’s national emblem.
