Egypt, officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a country located in North Africa and the Middle East. It shares land borders with Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and Israel and the Gaza Strip to the east. The official language is Arabic. The capital and largest city is Cairo.

The flag of Egypt was adopted in October 1984. The design consists three equal horizontal red, white and black bands. The center of the flag features a golden representation of the eagle of Saladin, Egypt’s national emblem.
