27th July is the Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War in North Korea. A public holiday also known as Armistice Day, A public holiday marking the signing of the armistice agreement on July 27th 1953 which brought to an end the fighting in the Korean War.

The flag of North Korea was adopted in July 1948. The design consists of two blue bands separated from a wide red central band by two thin white stripes. The red stripe features a five-pointed red star within a white circle offset towards the left hand hoist.
