The Republic of Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan) is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It shares borders with Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. Its official language is Azerbaijani. The capital and largest city is Baku.

The flag of Azerbaijan features three horizontal bands of blue, red, and green. A white crescent and an eight-pointed star adorns the red band, The flag originally used during the era of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic between 1918-20, was re-adopted in February 1991.
