Lotus Flag
Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, located on the southern coast of China near Hong Kong. It was a former Portuguese colony until 1999. The official languages are Chinese (Cantonese) and Portuguese, and the largest parish is Nossa Senhora de Fátima.
The flag, adopted on December 20, 1999, features a green field with a white lotus flower above a stylized bridge and water. Above the lotus are five golden stars, one large and four smaller, representing Macau’s connection to China. The green background reflects Macau’s peaceful and prosperous future.
