The Republic of Chile (República de Chile) is a country in South America. With a long and narrow pacific ocean coast, it shares borders with Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Its official language is Spanish. The capital and largest city is Santiago.

The flag of Chile was adopted in October 1817. The design consists of two equal-height horizontal bands of white and red. A blue square canton with a five pointed white star is in the upper hoist corner.
