
Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a French overseas territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean, south of Newfoundland, Canada. It consists of the main islands of Saint Pierre, Miquelon-Langlade and six smaller islets. The capital is Saint-Pierre. the official language is French.
The flag of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is unofficial but widely used, featuring a yellow sailing ship on a pale blue sea and background, thought to be the Grande Hermine, on which explorer Jacques Cartier arrived at Saint Pierre in 1536. On the left side, three smaller banners represent the territory’s Basque, Breton, and Norman heritage.
