Madeira is an island group and autonomous region of Portugal. It is located in the North Atlantic Ocean, in the region of Macaronesia, 320 miles west of the Morocco and 500 miles southwest of mainland Portugal. The capital is Funchal City.
The flag, adopted on 28 July 1978 is a blue, gold and blue vertical triband with a red and white Cross of Christ at the center.
