Flag of Tunisia

25th July is Republic Day in Tunisia which marks the day in 1957 when the monarchy was abolished. It is celebrated with a public holiday with parades and flag waving ceremonies.

The flag of Tunisia was adopted in October 1827. The design consists of a red field with a central white disc containing a red crescent and five pointed star which are traditional symbols of Islam.
