

Tokushima Prefecture is located on the eastern side of Shikoku prefecture, facing the Pacific Ocean. It covers about 4,146 km² making it the 36th largest prefecture in Japan by area.
Tokushima is bordered by Kagawa to the north, Ehime to the west, and Kōchi to the south. To the east, Tokushima faces the Kii Channel, with the Naruto Strait separating it from Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture.
The capital is Tokushima City, with a population of around 250,000. The prefecture’s total population is approximately 700,000. Notable cities include Naruto, Anan and Awa which is known for Awa Odori, one of Japan’s most famous traditional dance festivals.
The flag of Tokushima was adopted on Mar 18th 1966. It features a Yellow stylized Hiragana と and く ‘toku’ on a blue field. The emblem shaped like a flying bird represents harmony and cooperation.
