The Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Cộng hòa Xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam) is a country in Southeast Asia. It shares borders with China, Laos and Cambodia. Its official language is Vietnamese. The capital is Hanoi and its largest city is Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese flag is known as the Flag of Fatherland. The design which features a yellow star central on a red field was updated in November 1955 after being adopted in 1940.
