Vatican City State (Stato della Città del Vaticano) is a european independent city-state, microstate and enclave situated within Rome in Italy. With a population of about 453 area of 0.49 km2 (0.19 sq mi) it is the smallest state in the world by area and population. Its national language is Italian.

The Vatican City flag was adopted in the world’s smallest country in June 1929. The design consists of two equal vertical stripes of yellow and white. The crossed keys of Saint Peter and the Papal Tiara coat of arms is centered in the white band
