The United Arab Emirates, often abbreviated as UAE, is a country located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. It is bordered by Oman to the east and Saudi Arabia to the south, as well as sharing maritime borders with Qatar to the west and Iran to the north. The official language is Arabic. The capital city is Abu Dhabi and the largest city is Dubai.
The flag of the UAE was adopted in December 1971. The design consists of a horizontal tricolor of the Pan-Arab colors of green, white and black. A vertical red bar is at the left hand hoist side.
