The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea. It includes the main island and smaller islands including Mona, Culebra and Vieques.The official languages are Spanish and English. The capital and largest city is San Juan.

The flag of Puerto Rico was adopted in 1952 with colors updated in 1995. It features five alternating red and white horizontal stripes, with a blue triangle on the left containing a white, five-pointed star. It is known as Monoestrellada meaning ‘single star’, or ‘lone star’.
