On 27th August Moldova celebrates its independence from the Soviet Union. Fireworks displays and Parades mark the day in 1991 when the country adopted the Declaration of Independence.
The Moldovan flag was adopted in November 1990. The design consists of a vertical tricolor of blue, yellow, and red. At the center is the country’s coat of arms which features an eagle holding a shield bearing one of Moldova’s traditional symbols, the Aurochs’ head. The reverse of the flag is a mirrored version.
