Mauritania, also known as the Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country of northwest Africa. It shares borders with Western Sahara, Algeria, Mali and Senegal. Its official language is Arabic and its capital and largest city is Nouakchott.
The flag of Mauritania was adopted in August 2017. The design consists of a green field featuring a gold star above an upward facing crescent moon, with red stripes at the top and bottom.
