Brazil, officially known as the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. It shares land borders with all other South American countries except for Chile and Ecuador. The official language is Portuguese. The capital is Brasília, and the largest city is São Paulo.

Known as ‘A Auriverde’ the flag of Brazil was adopted in November 1889. The design consists of a green field with a yellow diamond in the center bearing a blue disk. A starry sky with 27 small white five-pointed stars including the southern cross and a white curved band emblazoned with the National Motto: “Ordem E Progresso” (Order and Progress), is incorporated into the blue disk.
