The Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) is a commonwealth of the United States made up of 14 islands located in the north-western Pacific Ocean, north of Guam and east of the Philippines. The official languages are English, Chamorro, and Carolinian, the capital is Saipan.

The flag adopted in 1985, features a blue field with a white star at the center overlaid on a gray latte stone. Surrounding the star is a decorative wreath, representing the customs and culture of the indigenous people of the islands. The blue background symbolizes the Pacific Ocean.
