São Tomé and Príncipe, officially known as the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, is a small island country located in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western coast of Central Africa. The country is made up of two archipelagos around the two main islands: São Tomé and Príncipe. The official language is Portuguese. The capital city is São Tomé.

The flag of São Tomé and Príncipe was adopted in July 1975. The design consists of three horizontal bands green, yellow and green, with a red triangle based at the left hand hoist. Two five-pointed black stars are featured on the yellow stripe.
