The Republic of the Singapore (新加坡共和国) (Republik Singapura) is an island country in Southeast Asia. It is situated off the south of the Malay Peninsula and west of the South China Sea. Its official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil.

The flag of Singapore was adopted in December 1959. The design consists of two equal horizontal bands of red and white. The top left canton features a white crescent moon and a pentagon of five five-pointed stars.

The national anthem of Singapore is “Majulah Singapura” (in Malay) (Onward Singapore).
