Norfolk Island is an external territory of Australia, located in the South Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia. The official languages are English and Norfuk (a local creole language). The capital is Kingston and the largest town is Burnt Pine.

The flag of Norfolk Island, adopted on January 17, 1980, consists of three vertical bands: green on the sides and white in the center. In the middle white band is a green Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla), a tree native to the island and an iconic symbol of its natural heritage.
