Suriname, also known as the Republic of Suriname is a country in South America. It shares borders with French Guiana, Guyana and Brazil. Its official language is Dutch and its capital and largest city is Paramaribo.
The flag of Suriname was adopted in November 1975. The design consists of five unequal horizontal bands of green, white, red, white and green. The larger central red band features a yellow five-pointed star at its center.
