The U.S. Virgin Islands is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the Caribbean east of Puerto Rico. It consists of the main islands of Saint Thomas, Saint John, and Saint Croix, along with 50 smaller islands. The official language is English. The capital is Charlotte Amalie, located on Saint Thomas.

The flag of the adopted in 1921, features a simplified version of the U.S. coat of arms with a bald eagle at the center. The eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and three arrows in the other, representing the three main islands. On either side of the eagle are the letters “V” and “I. The colors red, white, and blue signify the territory’s connection to the United States.
