Unnofficial Flag of Benelux
Benelux is a politico-economic union that was officially established on 5 September 1944, through the London Customs Convention signed by Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Its aim is to promote economic cooperation, political coordination, and cross-border collaboration between the three founding member states. The General Secretariat is based in Brussels.

The term Benelux is derived from the first syllables of each country’s name: Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. The presidency of the Benelux is held in turn by the three countries for a period of one year.
Commissioned by the Committee for Belgian–Dutch–Luxembourgish Cooperation in 1951, this unofficial flag was never adopted by BENELUX. It combines elements from the three national flags to symbolize unity among the nations. The lion, known as Leo Belgicus, represents the broader historical region of the Low Countries.
