Home to Sydney, the state capital and Australia’s largest city, New South Wales features a long Pacific coastline and the Blue Mountains to the west. Notable landmarks including Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Bondi Beach.
The flag of New South Wales, adopted in 1876, is a British Blue Ensign with the state badge in the fly: a red cross on a white disc with a red lion in the centre and an eight-pointed gold star on each arm, representing its British heritage.
