Jersey is a self-governing British Crown Dependency located in the English Channel, near the coast of France. The official language is English, with Jèrriais (a Norman language) and French also recognized. The capital and largest parish is Saint Helier.

The flag adopted on June 12, 1979, features a white field with a red saltire cross. At the top of the flag is a gold Plantagenet crown above a red shield featuring three lions passant, symbolizing Jersey’s loyalty to the British Crown.
