Guatemala, officially known as the Republic of Guatemala, is a country located in Central America. It is bordered by Mexico to the north and west, Belize and the Caribbean Sea to the northeast, Honduras to the east, El Salvador to the southeast, and the Pacific Ocean to the south. The official language is Spanish. The capital city and largest city is Guatemala City.
The flag of Guatemala, “Pabellón Nacional”, was adopted in 1871. The design consists of a vertical triband of sky blue, white and sky blue. The country’s coat of arms featuring the resplendent quetzal bird is at the center of the white band.
